How to Play Roll an Anime

The complete idle-gacha loop from first dice purchase to rebirth planning.

How to Play

How to play Roll an Anime is easier to remember as a loop than as a feature list. You convert cash into dice, dice into characters through block rolls, characters into pedestal income, income into better blocks and more dice, and stalled accounts into rebirth multipliers. There is no combat layer. If you understand each station in that loop, every other guide on this wiki becomes easier.

The core loop in order

  1. Earn or hold cash from placed characters.
  2. Buy dice when you are ready to roll.
  3. Choose a block and roll dice on it. The block tier shapes which rarity bands you can reach.
  4. Place the character on a free pedestal, or swap it onto a weaker pedestal if the plot is full.
  5. Collect cash while you play and while you are offline.
  6. Upgrade blocks and unlock better placement options so future rolls and income improve.
  7. Rebirth when growth flattens and you want permanent multipliers for the next climb.

That is the whole game. Codes, weather, mutations, and game passes are multipliers around the same spine. Start with Getting Started if you have not finished the first-hour checklist yet.

Dice and blocks

Dice are the consumable that triggers a roll. Blocks are the machines that define the roll pool. Rolling more dice on a weak block is usually worse than saving cash for the next block upgrade. The Blocks Guide explains why stock, tier, and timing matter, including the community habit of saving blocks for rare weather.

When a better block unlocks higher rarity odds, your average pedestal quality rises. That rise funds the next upgrade faster than spam-rolling the starter pool. Treat blocks as progression gates, not cosmetic shop items.

Pedestals and placement

Pedestals are your production slots. Every empty pedestal is a missing generator. Fill them all. When the plot is full, replace the weakest effective earner first — not your favorite unit, and not a random middle slot. Effective earnings depend on rarity and mutation together, so a mutated lower rarity can beat a blank higher rarity. Use Best Setup for placement rules and Best Units when you want shortlists.

Placement priorities for most players:

  • Fill empties immediately.
  • Put the strongest effective unit on the best pedestal multiplier you have.
  • Protect mutated anchors through early rebirth planning.
  • Never create empty gaps for organization during a grind.

Cash online and offline

Characters generate cash while you are in the server and while you are away. Offline cash is why a full plot matters before you log out. Morning stacks should usually buy the next block tier or fund a planned luck window, not disappear into random low-value rolls. Details and spending order live in Cash and Offline Earnings.

Online sessions are for decisions: redeem codes, watch weather, roll saved stock, rearrange pedestals, and choose whether the account is ready to rebirth.

Luck: weather, mutations, boosts, and passes

Luck is not one button. It is a stack of temporary and situational multipliers:

  • Server weather and mutation events that rotate over time
  • Code boosts such as luck or cash timers
  • Game passes commonly discussed by players: Auto Roll, 2x Luck, 2x Cash, Storage, VIP
  • Better blocks that raise the ceiling of what luck can roll

The practical rule is simple: save valuable rolls for good windows. If a rare weather or mutation event is active, that is when premium stock and luck codes should be spent. Read How to Increase Luck and Mutations before burning a night of resources.

Rarity ladder without combat fantasy

Rarity climbs from Common toward Godly, with mid bands such as Rare, Super Rare, and Epic used across community guides. Higher rarity generally means stronger base cash per pedestal. Mutations can rewrite that ranking for individual units. Use the Tier List Hub and Rarities for labels, but let effective cash decide swaps.

Because there is no combat, stronger always means better income and better long-term plot quality — not damage, cooldowns, or team synergies from fighter games.

Rebirth as the meta loop

When a run slows, rebirth converts short-term progress into permanent advantage for the next climb. Exact menus can change with patches, but the planning questions stay stable:

  • Is my plot full of the best self-rolled units I can currently protect?
  • Am I blocked more by block tier than by dice count?
  • Do I understand that traded characters do not count for rebirth?
  • Is there an event or code window that will help me recover after the reset?

Answer those with the Rebirth Guide before you press the button out of boredom.

Codes and session planning

Codes are part of how to play, not a side activity. Redeem WELCOME early. Save timed luck and cash codes for sessions where you will actually roll. Keep the Codes list and how to redeem steps handy. Pair code timers with weather using the Boost Planner once you are comfortable with the loop.

A clean session plan looks like this:

  1. Check Updates and current codes.
  2. Confirm weather or mutation status.
  3. Fill or rearrange pedestals.
  4. Upgrade the block if cash allows.
  5. Redeem the boosts you intend to use.
  6. Roll saved stock.
  7. Log out only after the plot is full again.

Quality-of-life passes without pay-to-win myths

Auto Roll reduces repetition. Storage helps inventory management. 2x Luck and 2x Cash speed the same systems free players already use. VIP is often discussed as a bundled convenience and multiplier package. None of these replace the fundamentals taught in Getting Started. If a pass does not help you fill pedestals, time weather, or fund blocks, it is optional flavor.

How this page connects to the rest of the wiki

Learn the loop once, then let every session execute the same order with better timing. That is how to play Roll an Anime well.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the basic Roll an Anime gameplay loop?

Buy dice, roll on blocks, place characters on pedestals, earn cash online and offline, upgrade blocks, then rebirth when growth stalls.

Does Roll an Anime include combat?

No. It is an idle-gacha plot builder. Strength means cash output and roll quality, not fighting.

Why do blocks matter so much?

Block tier controls which rarity pools you can reach. Better blocks beat endless dice on weak pools. See Blocks.

When should I use luck codes and weather?

During active rolling windows. Pair them with Increase Luck advice instead of redeeming timers while AFK.

What should I read if my income feels stuck?

Check pedestal fills, block tier, and luck timing first, then open Rebirth if the run has truly plateaued.
